Puno: police confirm first death in Juliaca due to clashes in demonstrations (Spanish)
A 35-year-old man was transferred to a health post in an emergency, but unfortunately, arrived lifeless.

Protests in the Puno region have intensified this Monday, January 9, and a person lost his life in the city of Juliaca. According to the Peruvian National Police (PNP), 35-year-old Gabriel Omar Lopez Amanqui suffered a serious head injury and died at around 2:00 p.m. His death is the first reported in the Puno region.
So far, it was known that the victim was helped alive on a motorcycle to the post La Revolución de Juliaca; however, after a few minutes it was confirmed that he had no vital signs.
Relatives told the press that Lopez Amanqui was walking near the Inca Manco Cápac Airport (JUL) in Juliaca when he suffered serious injuries apparently caused by shotgun pellets. The man fell to the ground and was taken to the nearest health post. His wife said that Gabriel sold ice cream and was returning home after making his daily sales. Unfortunately, he was caught in the middle of the clashes between the PNP and protesters.
Mr. Lopez Amanqui was the father of a family and leaves behind two children aged fifteen and three years.
It was reported that Mr. Lopez Amanqui's relatives and other citizens are outside the health center. The latter are protesting and are demanding the resignation of President Dina Boluarte.
