Lima: Jorge Chávez Airport closes its runway and reportes flight delays (Spanish)
Passengers coming from Pucallpa indicated that the Latam airline could not land at the Lima airport and returned them to their place of departure.
Passengers indicated through social networks that Latam airline flights from Pucallpa and Trujillo could not land at Jorge Chávez International Airport (LIM) due to a problem later identified as the technical malfunction of an aircraft on the runway. Likewise, people from Pisco and Lima denounced delays in their flights.
Passengers from different national destinations expressed their annoyance at this situation. Because of this, they had to remain at the airport without any explanation.
Airport operator Lima Air Partners (LAP) temporarily closed the runway, due to a plane having a technical malfunction. At that time there were three aircraft in position to land on LIM Airport's one runway. For this reason, they were diverted to Pisco. These trips were from Cusco, Santiago de Chile, and Puerto Maldonado. Each flight suffered a delay, but all have already taken off from the capital after resolving the incident, according to the information obtained by La República.
Through Twitter, LAP indicated that everything was resolved, and operations resumed normally.
The tweet indicated the runway was temporarily closed this morning between 10:50 and 11:46 am.
