Ayacucho: fuel shortages in Parinacochas (Spanish)

Frank Tacuri

Carriers from the province of Parinacochas warned of fuel shortages at their main stations due to road blockades carried out by protesters in different parts of the country.

“There has been no gasoline in any of the punps for 4 or 5 days, there was still oil, but right now everything is running out of supplies, and it harms us (the carriers), all shifts (departures) will have to be suspended because without fuel we cannot do nothing," said s representative of the Union of Transporters.

The representative specified that the owners of the gas stations told him that they cannot supply themselves with fuel due to the blockade of the roads.

Given this, it was reported that the company that provides public transport service (20 to 25 units), will be forced to suspend departures to other areas, causing significant economic losses for their members and harm to citizens who travel.

"This is because of the situation we are going through (political and social crisis) but they should allow basic food and fuel to continue mobilizing because it is an important part of people to continue mobilizing."
