'Violentistas' radicalize their protests in regions and Lima (Spanish)

They announce the mega-march of "los cuatro suyos" this January 19

It will be two weeks since the protests resumed in southern Peru on January 4 against the government of President Dina Boluarte . Now, the panorama does not seem to stop, since the spokesmen of the violent protests have threatened to radicalize their actions this January 19 in Lima, Arequipa, Cusco, La Libertad, and others.

On the other hand, the transfer of dozens of people in vehicles from different regions was also reported. Last Monday 16, at Km. 31 of Via Los Libertadores, in Ica, the PNP prevented a caravan of cars carrying protesters, who had come from Andahuaylas, from continuing their way to Lima to protest.

In this procedure, three drivers were taken to Pisco to review their documents and verify that the vehicles meet the necessary requirements to circulate, that is, SOAT, technical inspection, among others. The representatives of the Public Ministry also arrived at the place.

In addition, it was learned, according to the citizens, that other groups from Arequipa, Cusco, Puno, Huancavelica and Ayacuch [sic] will also arrive in Lima in the coming days.

The organizations of these provinces, except for Huancavelica, are part of the "First Macroregional Meeting of the South", held on December 28, where the "March of the Cuatro Suyos" was announced.

“It will be coordinated with the regional fronts, Defense fronts, the National Assembly of the Peoples and other organizations that wish to join our fight, forming a struggle committee by provinces, districts with all social organizations. Prepare the March of the cuatro suyos on a date close to the consultation for the date of the massive trip to Lima. Coordinate new forms of struggle at the national level”, reads the document signed by the respective union leaders.

EMERGENCY

For now, the regions of Lima, Callao, Cusco, and Puno remain under a State of Emergency decreed by the Executive. The measure will be in force until February 15.

The list of demands, which has been promoted since the beginning of the first wave of protest against Boluarte, also demands a call for a Plurinational and Popular Constituent Assembly.

CAJAMARCA

The first to report on this measure were the Ronderos from the city of Chota, in Cajamarca. Noé Rafael Campos, president of the Sole Provincial Central of Rural and Urban Roundabouts of Chota, in an interview with Exitosa radio, said that for this January 19 there will be roadblocks, closure of markets and institutions as part of radicalizing the protest.

"It has been agreed to forcefully carry out, starting Thursday at 00:00, the blockade of roads and the closure of markets and institutions," he declared in our media.

AREQUIPA

Jorge del Carpio Lazo, a member of the Arequipa Fighting Committee, specified that the protest marches will take place at 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. starting on January 19. The concentrations will be in the Plaza España del Cercado in the city.

"Here there is no separation, it is all the people who fight against a government that has taken on the characteristics of a dictatorship," he said.

CGTP

Through its social networks, the CGTP called on "the working class and the Peruvian people to actively participate in the Great National, Civic and Popular Strike of January 19, 2023." The largest trade union center in the country demands the resignation of President Dina Boluarte and the Board of Directors of Congress.

AYACUCHO

The Unitary Command of Regional Struggle, Junín, announced a 24-hour strike in this region for January 19.

“This government is unsustainable due to the murder of minors, doctors and citizens who were only protesting. In this assembly it was agreed to abide by, as a preventive measure, the 24-hour strike this Thursday, January 19,” said the organization secretary of the Junín Region Defense and Development Front, Luis Alberto Ortiz Soberanes.

FREEDOM

The Ronderos of the La Libertad region have decided to join the demonstrations against the government of Dina Boluarte, demanding her prompt resignation, as revealed by Pablo Haro Quispe, Regional President of the single central Cunarc Ronderos.
