During the morning of Wednesday, January 11, protesters took to the main roads of Tacna demanding the resignation of President Dina Boluarte. Groups of protesters have been observed outside a shopping center, as well as on the main avenues of the city. In addition, some merchants made pots and pans.
The demonstrations in Tacna have intensified over recent days and, at various points in the heroic city, pickets were observed. These were observed in the Alto de la Alianza district, Leguía avenue and the Panamericana Sur highway.
On the other hand, several protesters arrived at the Plaza Vea shopping center, where the police had already guarded the passage. A similar situation occurred on Manuel A. Odría Avenue where the police had to protect the Solidarity hospital.
In addition, the merchants of the Bolognesi market joined the protests peacefully. They staged a sit-in outside the supply center and banged pots and pans against the government of Dina Boluarte.
All the protesters do go to the civic center of the city of Tacna.
First act of vandalism
After the intensification of demonstrations in the city of Tacna, on the night of Tuesday, January 10, protesters burned the Tomasiri customs toll control booth, located 39 km from the Panamericana Sur highway.
At first, the blockade was only achieved with rock pickets, by protesters, on the North and South Pan-American highway that give access to the city of Tacna. Subsequently, the burning of the Tomasiri customs toll of the Panamericana Sur was reported.
