Cusco: Social Organizations Will Restart Macro-Regional Strike Tomorrow (Spanish)
Social organizations of Cusco have ratified that, from Wednesday, January 4, they will join and restart the macro-regional strike in Southern Peru, after a debate that they held for more than three hours, confirmed the General Secretary of the Departmental Federation of Workers of Cusco, Antonio Maqquera.
The leader pointed out that they have the Regional Fight Committee with the participation of the bases of the thirteen provinces of the Imperial Region for tactical and strategic coordination. There will be the presence of pickets on the arteries of the city, provinces, districts, and communities. Maqquera added that after the first 48 hours of blockades they will evaluate future actions according to the situation.
On the other hand, Maqquera ruled out any acts of violence that may occur with the restart of the protests but clarified that this does not mean their measure will ceases to be energetic and forceful.
The General Secretary insisted that it is necessary to develop a National Assembly in which solutions to political and social problems are addressed, however, for this to be done, the State of Emergency must be lifted first at the national level.
