Protests against the government of Dina Boluarte continue in Arequipa. This morning a group of protesters blocked Kilometer 16 of the Arequipa-Yura highway; stones and coffins were placed on the track.

The request is the same, the resignation of Dina Boluarte and the early elections for this year. "We want Mrs. Dina to resign at once. We are not going to stop until she leaves the government," said a protester.

The reason they placed coffins on the roas was for the President to be responsible for the deaths in Juliaca and Cusco in addition to her resignation and advancement of elections.

"Mrs. Dina must answer for the deaths that occurred in Juliaca. They have massacred our brothers and this cannot go unpunished. Let the full weight of the law fall on her,” is the request of a protester.

Blockade of Kilometer 16 prevents garbage trucks from advancing

In the morning, the entrance road to Quebrada Honda was cleared, so that the garbage trucks could remove the waste.

However, after the blockade of Kilometer 16, the trucks ended up stranded and were forced to return to the city.

It is expected that tomorrow or later protestors will open the road again, to avoid further accumulation of garbage.
