By unanimous agreement, the presidents and delegates of the groups affiliated with the Regional Federation of Folklore and Culture of Puno, agreed to suspend the activities programmed within the framework of the Virgin of Candelaria Festival 2023, in the absence of Víctor Espino, the head of said Federation, from whom many demanded his resignation.
After a self-convened assembly by the presidents and delegates of the different groups, both original dances and costumes, it was determined to suspend all activities until 2024; likewise, they urged the president of the Federation and his executives not to get involved in political issues.
Also, they agreed that the Regional Federation of Folklore and Culture of Puno should not allow the development of any activity due to Candelaria 2023, outside the region; In the end, the directors of the institution recorded all of this.
"Although the president of the Federation has been absent, we have agreed to suspend the activities for Candelaria 2023 and we also determined that the next meetings be held jointly with the representatives of native dances and costumes," said the delegate of the Waraqueros de Sandia Cultural Association, Aydeé Macedo, through Pachamama radio.
