Father of Peru National Police (PNP) Officer murdered in Juliaca blames Dina Boluarte for the death of his son.

Eulogio Soncco and Nicolasa Quispe, parents of slain Police Officer José Luis Soncco Quispe, blamed President Dina Boluarte for the death of the non-commissioned officer and the loss of life that has occurred since protests against the current regime began. “What can we say, it ignores the population. Because of that President, Peruvians are killing each other,” said Don Eulogio.

A well-known band of musicians from Juliaca performs a cultural protest in the center of the city

The well-known band of musicians Real Majestad de Juliaca paid tribute to those who died because of the repression of the tragic Monday, January 9 in the town. They also held a cultural protest in the company of a crowd that, together with them, toured the main arteries of the hosiery city to demand the resignation of Dina Boluarte.

The members of the group, dressed as chiñipilcos (a typical Juliaca carnival costume), play their instruments, and sang the following stanza aloud: “This democracy is no longer a democracy, Dina is a murderer, the people repudiate you. How many deaths do you want for you to renounce, Dina murders, the people repudiate you”, while they marched through the streets.

Trujillo: citizens protest before the arrival of the Minister of Agriculture

With harangues rejecting the Head of State, the Minister of Agrarian Development, Neli Paredes, was received in front of the premises of the Chamber of Commerce and Production of La Libertad, where a decentralized public hearing was being held to unlock the third stage of the Special Project Chavimochic.

The demonstrators demanded justice for the deaths produced during the protests in Puno and Cusco and demanded the resignation of President Dina Boluarte and the closure of the Congress of the Republic.

Medical College of Peru demands guarantees from the government for health personnel in protests

The Medical College of Peru called on the government and civil society to guarantee respect and safety for health personnel, as well as to cease violence in the context of mobilizations in various regions of the country.  

Raúl Urquizo, dean of the CMP, mentioned that nineteen ambulances have been attacked. "There have been personnel attacked, doctors attacked in Huánuco, where they went to work. We have had health personnel in ambulances, who have been stoned. We have records of nineteen ambulances that have been destroyed," he said.

Rocío Leandro Melgar ('Comrade Cusi') caught giving money to cocaleros for the protests in Ayacucho, according to the Peruvian National Police (PNP).

According to a prosecutor's hypothesis, Rocío Leandro Melgar operated as a member of the New Red Faction of the terrorist organization Sendero Luminoso through the Ayacucho People's Defense Front (FREDPA), which she presided over.

According to Commander General Oscar Arriola, there are film records that show 'Comrade Cusi' giving money to cocaleros from VRAM and ethnocaceristas  Ed. -  an ethnic nationalist movement Peru led by Antauro Humala, a former army major, and nationalist leader) in exchange for mobilizing the masses in more protests in Ayacucho.

Leandro Melgar, alias 'Cusi', and operators coordinated with leaders from other regions to encourage mobilizations. “In the meantime, of following these people, the contacts they have with Puno, Cusco and Andahuaylas are learned; before, during and after the failed takeover of the Huamanga airport,” Arriola declared.

Machu Picchu: IncaRail suspends train service due to blockages on the railway

IncaRail issued a statement through which it informed about the suspension of the train service due to blockades on the railway.

The company maintained that it was notified by the concessionaire Ferrocarril Transandino SA of the existence of blockages that occur on the railway line that its vehicles use. Therefore, it has decided to stop its operations.

Inti Sotelo's brother says that the repression of this government is worse than that of Merino.

Pacha Sotelo, brother of Inti Sotelo, considered that the repression that exists in the protests during the Government of the President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte, is “worse”, compared to the demonstrations that occurred to demand the departure of Manuel Merino.

“Do you see any difference in the approach to the protest? It is worse, because in 2020 many will remember when the police repression threw close to a thousand tear gas bombs at us in a day of protest, there were the tear gas bomb deactivators, the first aid brigades that helped the wounded, defused the bombs so that people don't run in the tumult and all that, and they practically even did reports on them, but what is happening now? they criminalize them," he told Exitosa Noticias.

Mayor of Cusco on protests: "We do not want one more death in our town"

The Mayor of the Provincial Municipality of Cusco, Luis Pantoja, stated that they do not want to register more deaths due to the violent protests taking place in the region.

“In the city of Cusco, at this time, in the province, in the capital of the region, in the historic center, activities are normal. On some roads, in some districts, there are still some roads that are blocked with small groups, the Police are doing their job deploying their forces, avoiding any social cost. We do not want there to be deaths, we do not want one more death in our town," Mayor Pantoja told Exitosa Noticias.

Cusco: 2,400 people are evacuated from the Antapaccay mining company due to protests

After the protesters took over the mining camp of the Antapacay company in Espinar, Cusco, the company reported that they must evacuate 2,400 people, including workers and contractors whose integrity is in danger.

A comunique issued by the company stated: "We categorically reject the violent acts of destruction, robbery and looting suffered today, and we call on the corresponding authorities and the population to favor dialogue to find viable solutions to the crisis the country is going through."

Public Ministry opened investigation into deaths in demonstrations

Between December 2022 and January 2023, the Public Ministry opened eight investigations into the deaths from demonstrations to determine those responsible for the loss of human lives.

Likewise, there are seventeen fiscal folders for killed or injured citizens and eighty folders to investigate those who allegedly committed crimes against the government, riots, violence, resistance to authority, and hindering the operation of public services. There are also three folders for attacks on the offices of the Public Ministry.

Roger Gonzalo: "The Aymaras will come to Lima and I will be with my community"

The Aymara educator Roger Gonzalo announced that indigenous peoples will join the groups of protesters who come to Lima and demand the resignation of President Dina Boluarte.
