Machu Picchu tickets will be valid for one month for those affected by road blockades (Spanish)
The Ministry of Culture, through the Decentralized Directorate of Cusco (DDC), announced that people who have not used their entrance ticket to the Machu Picchu National Archaeological Park and the Inka Road Network due to the road blockades, will be able to use it for up to a month and, if necessary, they can request a refund of the value of the tickets.
However, the Ministery also informed that the National Archaeological Park of Machu Picchu and the Inka Road Network is in normal operation at the times that have been established. So far today, more than 220 people have entered the llaqta and the Inka Trail. Meanwhile, six Consettur Machu Picchu buses are in operation to take tourists to the llaqta from the town of Machu Picchu (Aguas Calientes) in a coordinated action to provide facilities for the transportation of visitors.
Visitors may enter the Machu Picchu llaqta from 6:00 am to 04:00 pm, without exceeding the daily limit of 4,044 visitors allowed by Ministerial Resolution No. 452-2022-DM/MC. Routes 1 and 2 of the Inka Road Network can be accessed from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. For this, the tour guide must coordinate with the guards of the DDC-Cusco and National Service of Natural Areas Protected by the State (SERNANP) Park Rangers for the assignment of camps. For Route 5 of Chachabamba at Km 104, it will be possible to enter from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm, during the next few days.
Ticket Refunds
At the same time, the Ministry of Culture affirmed that it would accommodate visitors affected by the National Strike that present requests for a refund of entrance tickets, but only for the days of the Strike and until January 11, 2023, by following the instructions on the Machu Picchu refund website (https://www.machupicchu.gob.pe/refunds/?lang=en), or by email: ingresos@culturacusco.gob.pe.
