Juliaca: PNP helicopters were shooting gas from the sky (Spanish)
Juliaca. Aggression and destruction! On the fourth day of the indefinite strike, protesters and the Peruvian National Police clashed again outside the Inca Manco Cápac International Airport (JUL).
This time the police helicopters flew over the skies of Julia and fired tear gas to control the strikers.
CONFRONTATION
The second day of confrontation with the Police was more violent than the previous one since the battlefield reached the bypass of the exit to Cusco; civilians and police clashed on the bridge.
And, because of the hours of confrontation, until the closing of this edition, a total of twenty-eight injuries between policemen and civilians were registered.
15 CIVILIANS INJURED
Alex Dueñas R. (30), Sergio Catacora M. (41), Rolando Mamani V. (32), Antonio Mamani A. (31), Markelin Maldonado Q. (29), Victor Abel Puma R. (28), Mario Gonzales C. (29), Pedro Quispe M. (33), Antonio Apaza R. (53), Luis Alberto Pari C. (29), Heder Mamani T. (37), Cristhian Apaza C. (29), Jose Gutierrez E. (19), Emeterius Help P. (66), and Maxim Rodriguez M.
All were treated by doctors from the Carlos Monge Medrano Hospital in Juliaca, who are alert to this emergency; the wounded abounded in the emergency corridors.
13 POLICE OFFICERS INJURED
Police officers reported thirteen police officers with various injuries to their bodies: Miguel Arias Aguirre, Jasel Claros Zapana, David Santuyo Colca, William Ttito Barrientos, Fredy Valentín Huaroc, Cristhian Chambi Calsín, Fredy Romero Cruz, Ray Sarzo Orozco, Elvis Chino Mamani, Alain Quispe Yucra, Huaranca Mendoza and Wilson Salazar Chainchay.
INJURED JOURNALIST
Among those affected, a photojournalist named Aldair Jorge Mejía López (24), who works for the "EFE Agency", was shot while working to cover the information. The colleague was hit by a bullet in the right leg.
The journalist also indicated that the police officers threatened him, and they tried to break his credentials: "If you do that again, I'll blow your head off and you'll leave here dead," is what a police officer allegedly told him. The press man was treated at the American clinic.
Journalists from various media outlets that have covered the protests in Juliaca from the beginning also suffered attacks by the protesters who beat and insulted the reporters, even threatening them with irons.
