The March of the 'Cuatro Suyos’ of them has begun. Since this last weekend, thousands of protesters from various parts of Peru began their trips to the city of Lima. This happens in the face of a "State of Emergency" declared by President Dina Boluarte in her desire to stop the demonstrations.

Anti-government protests took place in Apurímac, Cusco, Ayacucho, Arequipa, Madre de Dios, Puno, and other regions. In parallel, the confrontations due to the police and military repression at the order of Boluarte have so far left forty-two people dead. The mobilizations do not stop and neither does the government in trying to take control by force.

After the announcement of the 'Toma de Lima' and 'March of the Cuatro Suyos’, the President declared a "State of Emergency" in Lima, Callao, Cusco, and Puno. The declaration is intended for the Capital because the new epicenter of the demonstrations will take place in the streets of Lima with protesters from various regions of Peru.

The mobilizations began in Lima

Although there is no exact date of the so-called March of the 'Cuatro Suyos’ nor of the 'Toma de Lima', the mobilizations towards the capital have been taking place for a week with greater intensity. Those who are arriving in Lima have begun mobilizations in various districts including Villa María del Triunfo, San Martín de Porres, Miraflores, San Isidro and La Victoria.

After a long time, anti-Fujimorista groups such as 'Keiko no Va' and 'No a Keiko' have joined the regions in the demonstrations in addition to the 'Coordination of the Universities of Lima and Callao'.

Protestors travel from the south, center, north and east of Peru

In two weeks, protests have gone from thirty-six blocked roads to more than one hundred currently. This is according to the latest report from the Superintendent of Land Transportation of People, Cargo, and Merchandise (SUTRAN). Added to this are the massive trips to Lima.

Last Sunday, January 15, thousands of 'Chakas' (citizens of Andahuaylas in Junín) left for Lima in hundreds of vehicles. Protestors have announced that the capture of Lima will take place on Wednesday the 18th. Last Saturday in Cusco, the population organized activities to finance the trips and they are also on their way.

The southern zone of Peru remains in the fight, the center and now the north. La Libertad joined the National Strike on January 16th with some 90,000 people from that Region. Groups have also arrived from Cajamarca and Amazonas to the city of Lima and have already joined the first marches.

Dina Boluarte's declaration of emergency against the protests

The government has declared a State of Emergency in Lima, Callao, Cusco, and Puno. This runs from January 15 to February 15. The declaration also includes five highways of the national road network: the South and North Pan-American highways, the Central highway, the South Apurimac-Cusco-Arequipa highway corridor, and the South Interoceanic Road Corridor.

This State of Emergency includes a curfew in Puno, the mandatory social immobilization was extended for 10 more days, and provides that people cannot leave their homes between 8:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m. This region has been the strongest point in the protests where eighteen deaths have been registered.

The State of Emergency also suspends some constitutional rights such as the inviolability of the home, that is, the police and military may enter public or private properties without the need for a court order. Citizens will also not enjoy freedom of transit, freedom to meet, among others.
