Government of Honduras retweets statement by Pedro Castillo
Amid worsening relations between the governments of Peru and Honduras, a communique by deposed Peruvian President Pedro Castillo Terrones was posted today on the Government of Honduras official Twitter account. The posting follows Peru's recalling its ambassador to Honduras for what it called "unacceptable interference."

The step is part of a deepening division between Peru President Dina Boluarte and her regional peers, including the leftist leaders of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Cuba, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Honduras.
At a summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) in Argentina earlier this week, Honduran President Xiomara Castro called Boluarte's ascension to power a "coup d'état."
The deteriorating relationship between Peru and Honduras is also notable because Boluarte and Castro are their respective countries first women presidents.
Honduras continues to recognize Pedro Castillo as President after he was ousted and detained in December following an attempt to dissolve Peru's Congress and begin the process to write a new constitution.
Castillo is currently imprisoned on charges of rebellion and conspiracy.
In posting Castillo's communique on Twitter, the Government of Honduras said:
"The Constitutional President of Peru, @PedroCastilloTe, issues an important statement, in which he denounces the violations against the human rights of the Peruvian people, also thanks the solidarity of the President @XiomaraCastroZ and other presidents for condemning the dictatorship of his country."
