Last Friday, the leaders of the Ayacucho People's Defense Front (FREDPA) held a general assembly in which they agreed to support the national strike promoted by the Defense Fronts, which is being followed in several southern regions.
The representatives of different sectors were against the strike called by FREDPA for January 10 and 11, demanding the closure of Congress and the advancement of General Elections.
In this regard, President of the Ayacucho Chamber of Commerce (CCA) Paul Soto Necochea, pointed out that this type of stoppage generates economic damage to the region due to the suspension of activities and/or services, including transportation, markets, and businesses.
Necochea explained that losses per day can exceed ten million soles due to social conflicts and that these are amounts that cannot be recovered. For this reason, he urged the leaders and those who promote the mobilizations to take other types of measures to be heard.
For his part, Alejandro Mancilla, head of the Regional Chamber of Tourism, stated that the strikes bring delays and that they affect people who live from day to day.
Mancilla added that the political crisis also generates insecurity in companies that intend to invest in the region. He said that the same happens with tourists and visitors who, due to this situation, choose to travel to other places where there are no demonstrations.
Leonel Fernández, President of the official tourist guides in Ayacucho, asserted that the projections for this year will change unfavorably due to the constant strikes: all this occurs in a context where the region is preparing for the Bicentennial.
