In a caravan made up of dozens of vehicles, thousands of community members from the Apurimac Province of Andahuaylas left last Sunday for Lima in defense of their platform of struggle: the resignation of President Dina Boluarte, the closure of Congress, general elections this 2023 and constituent assembly.

Before leaving, they met at the Andahuaylas fairground to say goodbye to their land. Some leaders spoke in Quechua and Spanish. They said that they were going to the capital of the Republic to recover their homeland and that they were tired of being trampled on.

Student Joel Vargas Farfán said that the deceased will always be remembered, as will the men and women who decided to move to Lima on behalf of their communities, "because it depends on today that things change."

He questioned the authorities of Lima for their disdain of the community's population.

“Those authorities and policemen may have studied at the university, in the institutes, but they have no education. They don't know how to respect their neighbor; they don't know how to respect the peasant. Authorities, you are the voice of the people and we have put a vote of confidence, and we cannot allow this to continue like this,” noted Joel Vargas.

Among the communal representations that left for Lima are those Huancabamba, Cheqche, Chucaraylla, San Antonio de Cachi and Quishuará.

The province of Andahuaylas has 128 communities. They said that as the fighting progresses in Lima, and if necessary, they will ask for reinforcements.

The final farewell was given in the district of Talavera, which is the exit from Andahuaylas to Ayacucho. There a crowd of people awaited them with cheers, applause, and tears.

At 6:00 pm, the caravan reached the Uripa District, where another crowd stationed on both sidewalks of its streets received them with the same expressions of appreciation. Along the way, more vehicles were added. It was calculated that at 10:00 pm they would pass through Ayacucho.

In Andahuaylas the leader Delfín Pérez remained. Who comes on this first trip is Eugenio Allcca.

They free the Cusqueños.

Yesterday, the six citizens arrested on Friday and accused of generating disturbances near the Sol de Oro on La Cultura Avenue in Cusco were released. They are Wilber Quispe Condori, Javier Luna Oviedo, Américo Molle Mamani, Alfredo Romero Velásquez, Fernando Quispe Curo, and a person with the initials AGL, but who did not want to give his name.

According to their testimonies at the San Sebastián Police Station, they were beaten and threatened with sending them to Lima.

Lawyer Abel Ayasi told La República that he will file a criminal complaint against Peruvian National Police General Javier Vela and Prosecutor Eduardo Poblete because torture techniques had been used.
