Velasco Astete Airport (CUS) reopens and the military guards flight departures

The Ombudsman's Office called on airlines to provide information to passengers on scheduled flights and prioritize rescheduling of vulnerable people.

The Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MTC) reported that the Alejandro Velasco Astete international airport in Cusco restarted its operations this Friday, December 16, which were canceled, after a group of protesters against the government of Dina Boluarte tried to take it violently.

As indicated by the institution, with due security measures, the first flight departed from the so-called 'Imperial City' bound for Lima, after one in the afternoon. Several nationals and foreigners who were unable to continue with their tourist activities boarded the plane.

Lima Airport Partners also confirmed the restart of airport operations, through a publication on its official Twitter account. In previous days, there was a lot of discomfort on the part of the passengers, who saw their flights affected by the demonstrations in this region.
