Tumbes Regional Hospital on Verge of Collapse (Spanish)
Health in Tumbes is going through a serious situation, which has intensified after two years of the Covid-19 pandemic. The lack of specialists is the most critical issue that the hospital is going through.
After all the personnel and equipment will be transferred from the Hospital built in Ciudadela Noe to the old infrastructure of the hospital, the problems have been increasing, since the walls have presented cracks that every day suggests that they are going to collapse.
The damaged stretchers and equipment of some units are found cornered in the hospital corridors, waiting to be repaired or simply discharged, regardless of their value for each patient who arrives to be treated.
The ambulances lie far from the sight of the public, obsolete and without proper maintenance by the Regional Health Directorate. In the COVID area, relatives of patients report power cuts, which endanger the lives of their loved ones.
Added to this is the overcrowding of patients and the lack of specialists for their care, which is why referring the patient is a quick way out, however, specialized hospitals in other regions also have bed problems, so in Sometimes it takes months to find a hospital where they can be treated.
Care for patients and their families is also a failure in health professionals, where users complain about the mistreatment received, and the inaction of the staff.
It is worth mentioning that this problem would have been resolved if the Hospital located in Ciudadela Noe had been built for the benefit of the population. Precisely to meet the demand in the border area that increases every day.
Now, a proposal for a new Hospital is the hope of citizens who only ask for quality care, the right professionals for their care and the equipment so as not to resort to individuals to perform the tests.
However, the population still fears that it could be another white elephant like the one that was totally abandoned in Andrés Araujo Morán, where they promised to give patients quality of life; however, every day people suffer from diseases that afflicts them.
