Tacna - In December COVID Cases Number More Than 3,400

Tacna. A few days before the end of the year, more than 3,400 positive cases of Covid-19 have been registered so far this month in the Tacna region. According to reports from the Regional Health Directorate (DIRESA), there are more than 77,400 infections accumulated since the health emergency began in March 2020.


At the end of last November, the number of positive cases was 74,074 and presented a total per month of 886. In addition, there were no patients in the intensive care units (ICU) of the Tacna hospitals, eleven people were in hospitalization and 220 in home isolation. Today the situation has worsened with the admission of five people to the ICU, more than twenty-five in hospitalization and more than seven hundred in isolation at home as they do not present severe symptoms of the disease.

It should be noted that in the last report in October, 73,188 accumulated positive cases were reported, zero in the ICU, four hospitalized and ten in home isolation. The unfortunate number of fatalities so far this month reaches eleven. The total number of deaths confirmed by COVID-19 is 1,893. Given the increase in cases of infection with the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, which causes the disease, the Tacna Regional Health Directorate recommended that the population complete the scheme vaccination against the disease (with at least three doses), frequent hand washing, physical distancing, and the use of a mask in closed environments.
