Sale of Tickets by Bus to Cusco and Puno Suspended Due to Risk of Blocked Roads (Spanish)

The possible blockades bring uncertainty to passengers traveling New Year. RPP Noticias toured some bus terminals to verify the cost of tickets to the regions of the country.

The sale of tickets on interprovincial buses for the regions of Cusco and Puno was suspended by some companies due to the risk of a road blockade a few hours before the New Year.

In the land terminal of the company Flores, located on 28 de Julio Avenue and Paseo de la República Avenue, in La Victoria; Tickets for southern regions are not marketed because of the eventual resumption of the indefinite strike.

The situation brings uncertainty to passengers traveling to other regions, such as Arequipa.

"My sister is going to study in Arequipa, and I have to accompany her. Of course, if there is fear more than anything to return after New Year, we are in uncertainty and there is fear," a passenger told RPP Noticias.

Ticket costs

The cost of tickets for the city of Arequipa has been reduced by twenty soles, so it is now at one hundred soles. While for Tacna the rate continues at 140 soles.

The reduction is observed for the trip to Mancora, which previously had a cost of two hundred soles and is now 160 soles. However, for Trujillo the cost remains at one hundred soles and in the same way for Chiclayo at 140 soles.

In the case of Nasca, the ticket is sold at 80 soles.

According to the personnel of the mentioned terrestrial terminal, the rates are going to be maintained despite the celebration of the New Year.

Demand in the center of the country is reduced

At the San Luis Bus terminal, the demand for tickets to the center of the country for New Years has decreased by 40% compared to other years.

"The ticket to Huancayo is cheap, between forty soles and fifty soles. We invite you to travel because the ticket is cheap, and you ignore the informals. The ticket to Jauja is the same forty soles," a vendor told RPP News.

Also, a ticket to La Merced is fifty soles; to Oxapampa, seventy soles; to Satipo, seventy soles; and Huancavelica, seventy soles.
