'Reconsider Travel’ To Peru Due To Civil Unrest, Says State Department (Forbes - 12/16/2022)


Following last week’s arrest of Peruvian President Pedro Castillo, the U.S. State Department has reissued a Level 3 “Reconsider Travel” advisory for the South American country, as international tourists have been left stranded at Machu Picchu, the 15th-century Incan citadel site.

“Reconsider travel due to crime. Exercise increased caution due to civil unrest,” the State Department advisory reads. The warning is one step below the top “Level 4 Do Not Travel” advisory. (more)
