It was reported that there is a large number of tourists who cannot cross the border into Peru because it is blocked. Demonstrators obstructed passage into the country as a form of protest against the government of President Dina Boluarte.

The bridge connecting the two countries in Desaguadero, Bolivia has been blocked by a group of protesters. The road has been blocked since Thursday, December 15.

"It is a vacation trip, where we had said, we are going through La Paz, Puno, Juliaca and Arequipa. We have a lot of family and we wanted to visit them, because we could have taken a direct flight to Lima", declared one of the tourists affected by the blockade.

"We have to go back. It's complicated, we have to see how things change or take other measures because, otherwise we can get into trouble" indicated a Peruvian tourist.

Many of the affected travelers indicated that they will wait for the political conflict to improve, while others returned to La Paz, because they did not have money to remain.
