The demonstrations in Peru for the advancement of elections and the closing of Congress do not stop on their ninth day. Until today, December 17, the Ombudsman's Office has reported twenty deaths during clashes in Apurímac, Arequipa, La Libertad, Junín and Ayacucho between civilians and members of the National Police and Armed Forces. According to the report, six more people lost their lives in traffic accidents related to the road blockade. Given this scenario, the Executive declared the entire country in a state of emergency and established a curfew in eight departments (15 provinces).
