 Number of Bus Accident Deaths in Chumbivilcas Rises to Seven

Five seriously injured are recovering in hospitals in Cusco. The state of health of a child under 8 years of age is the most delicate.


The number of deaths due to the oversight and overturning of the bus belonging to the transport company Olivares in the community of Totora in the district of Livitaca, in the province of Chumbivilcas, Cusco region, increased to seven.

The victims were identified as Virgilio Colque Mendoza (40-year-old driver), Bécquer Julio Bustinza Herrera (46), Luis Guillermo Lacuta Limpe (57), Luis Guillermo Quispe Uniysoncco (50), Juana Luna Caillahui (59), YCB (a year and seven months) and Mirian Mamani Cuba (died on the way).

The corpses were transferred to the Livitaca health center, while the most seriously injured were transferred to the Regional and EsSalud hospitals in the city of Cusco.

Five of the wounded were admitted to the Regional Hospital of Cusco

A total of five were injured because of the overturning of a passenger transport bus on the Livitaca - Chumbivilcas route, at the height of the Totora sector, in the province of Chumbivilcas, and were evacuated to the Regional Hospital of Cusco. The accident occurred in the early hours of this Monday morning and the evacuees arrived at noon, said the doctor, José Pinares Valencia, director of the hospital.

The injured arrived at the hospital in two ambulances and a van. They immediately received care by the emergency health team, led by Doctor Carlos Valencia Espinoza; They have multiple traumas, two of them with traumatic brain injury (TEC) and the child under 8 years of age is the most delicate, as specialists in pediatric surgery make every effort for their recovery.

Once stabilized, they underwent imaging tests to rule out major fractures, internal, spinal, and intracranial trauma and are covered by the Compulsory Traffic Accident Insurance (SOAT). It should be noted that beds were available for care and the Emergency Service did not collapse.
