More humanitarian flights in Arequipa requested.
THROUGH A STATEMENT, THE DIFFERENT PUBLIC AND PRIVATE INSTITUTIONS RELATED TO THE TOURISM SECTOR IN AREQUIPA ASKED THE NATIONAL GOVERNMENT AUTHORITIES TO ACCELERATE THE AUTHORIZATION OF MORE HUMANITARIAN FLIGHTS FOR THE TRANSFER OF PASSENGERS TO THE CITY OF LIMA.
The Association of Hotels and Restaurants (Ahora), Travel and Tourism Agencies (Avit), Regional Management of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Gercetur) and Information and Assistance to Tourists (Iperú) reported that around 1,100 passengers are stranded in Arequipa due to the suspension of operations at Alfredo Rodríguez Ballón International Airport.
Among those affected are children and older adults, who have been suffering the inconvenience.
They also welcomed the support of the Peruvian Air Force for having evacuated passengers last Friday to the city of Lima from the La Joya base. However, more emergency flights are required.
From the Regional Council of Arequipa (CRA) also requested an air bridge for the humanitarian transfer of passengers who are stranded in the capital of the Republic and thus return to the White City.
