Great News!: Ayacucho Airport will Operate Again From this Wednesday
After closing operations since last week for security in the face of the wave of violent demonstrations, the MTC indicated that the airport will return to normal operation from this December 21.
The Coronel FAP Alfredo Mendívil Duarte Airport (AYP) in the city of Ayacucho will restart operations tomorrow, Wednesday 21 after its closure last week, to avoid attacks by demonstrators, the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) reported today.
"The Executive and the aeronautical community have been working together and agile to normalize air operations throughout the country," says part of the message, published on social networks.
The Ayacucho airport suspended its operations from 00:00 hours on Thursday, December 15, before the warning of the Armed Forces about the arrival of a group of demonstrators who intended to break in, putting at risk the safety of passengers, staff and the entire community, Aeropuertos Andinos del Perú (AAP) reported at the time.
The terminal was heavily guarded by police officers and members of the Peruvian Army to prevent vandals from attacking the air infrastructure.
During the violent demonstrations, face-to-face school classes in Huamanga were suspended in Ayacucho, markets were closed and there was no public transport, as roads were blocked.
