Government of Boluarte Grants Safe Conduct to Lilia Paredes and Her Children to Go to Mexico

Safe. Lilia Paredes, former first lady of the nation, and her children Arnold and Alondra, will go to Mexico after the government of President Dina Boluarte decided to grant them the safe-conduct requested by the Mexican foreign minister, Marcelo Ebrard.
Through a press conference, Foreign Minister Ana Cecilia Gervasi reported that the decision was due in accordance with the Caracas Convention of 1964, to which both states (Peru and Mexico) are parties, and in which Article 12 specifies the territorial state "is obliged" to immediately grant asylum, as well as the corresponding safe-conduct.
"In accordance with international obligations, the Foreign Ministry has proceeded to grant the safe-conduct to the aforementioned persons," said the Peruvian foreign minister.
