Police Warn They Will Act Against Strikes and Mobilizations
General Antero Mejía Escajadillo, head of the Ayacucho Police Region, declared during his visit to the markets that strikes and mobilizations are not authorized by the state of emergency, and that he will act and arrest all those who participate in these actions.
He added that they can even enter participants' homes because the law allows it.
The visit of the Ayacucho police chief surprised the merchants because he went to the offices that exist in the markets themselves to speak with the leaders.
In one of them, pointing to Rocío Leandro, the president of the Front for the Defense of the People of Ayacucho - FREDPA, Escajadillo told the audience that "don't let yourself be manipulated by this woman."
During the validity of the state of emergency, decreed by the government of Dina Boluarte, it has been important for the population to be informed of the rights that are suspended, such as detentions without the need for a court order and home invasions.
That is why the Police Chief repeated his statement that if merchants go out in mobilization or there is a strike, he will act. He will force the markets to open, especially in this season close to Christmas, and with any demonstration, he will send troops to dissolve it, because they are prohibited.
In response to the statements by General Mejía Escajadillo, leaders of the People's Defense Front pointed out that there are fundamental rights that must be respected and ignored the 30-day national State of Emergency.
Faced with this situation, citizens on social networks in Ayacucho have invoked the need for dialogue to restore peace and tranquility, while condemning the acts of vandalism committed by some protesters, and mourning the deaths of nine people, by soldiers.
