At 5:14 am on Christmas Sunday, a contingent from the Vraem Special Command, the Army and the National Police entered the gas plant located in Kepashiato , province of La Convención, Cusco, to evict 127 residents who were occupying said headquarters demanding the closure of Congress.

"Support is requested from the brothers of Kiteni and Ivochote, they are holding our comrade's hostage (...) Join us, comrades in the emergency!", one of the residents was heard saying.

Before intervening, the security forces asked the protesters to leave the area and not force them to use force. However, the occupants resisted, which caused a balance of two injuries. None of them with firearms.

It should be noted that the president of the Peruvian Hydrocarbons Society (SPH), Felipe Cantuarias, warned that taking over more stations could completely paralyze the distribution system and leave the country without its main source of energy.

The Joint Command of the Armed Forces reported, through a statement, that at 5:15 a.m. a contingent of integrated forces from the 33rd Infantry Brigade of the Vraem Special Command and the Peruvian National Police managed to vacate the TGP gas compression plant. (KP-127) that remained taken by more than a hundred people for twelve days.

The document states that, "despite the hostile attitude shown by the protesters, the security forces managed to control the situation without causing damage to civilian, military or police personnel, nor to the sensitive infrastructure of this critical asset, located in Kumpirushiato, La Convención, Cusco”.

The statement also points out that, in the fray there were two protestors with multiple contusions who were treated at the Kepashiato health center and have already been discharged.

Likewise, the release ruled out the existence of people injured by firearms and called on the public “not to give credence to malicious versions that aim to incite violence in the area”.
