Curfew: Government dictates mandatory social immobilization in 15 provinces of the Country for 5 days (El Comercio [Spanish] - 12/15/2022)
This occurs even though some members of the Executive had ruled out applying this measure in the country
During the State of Emergency, the Government has decreed mandatory social immobilization, better known as curfew, for five days in fifteen provinces of eight regions of the country in the face of violent protests and confrontations that have left more than seven dead. This is despite the fact that some members of the Executive had ruled out that possibility.
The curfew implies that people will not be able to leave their homes during the validity of the measure and could be detained by the military or police if there is no justification.
According to the rule, the curfew is established in the provinces of Arequipa, Virú, Ica, Pisco, Andahuaylas, Chincheros and Cusco), The Convention (Cusco), Chumbivilcas (Cusco), Spin (Cusco), Carabaya (Puno), San Roman/Juliaca District (Puno), Tayacaja (Huancavelica), Angaraes (Huancavelica), Cangallo (Ayacucho).
The hours in which the curfew will be applied will be from 6 pm to 4 am, from 7 pm to 4 am and from 8 pm to 4 am in the mentioned provinces.
This measure occurs during the violent protests that have taken place in the country after the failed coup d'état by Pedro Castillo and the assumption of Dina Boluarte as President.
