 Congress Approves Advancement of General Elections for April 2024

The text, promoted by the president of the Constitution Commission, Hernando Guerra García, provides that the presidential and congressional mandates end in July of that same year.

With ninety-three votes in favor, the plenary session of Congress approved the constitutional reform that allows the advancement of the general elections to April 2024 and the end of the presidential and legislative mandates in July of the same year. Eighty-seven votes are required in the next ordinary legislature.
