Arequipa - Night Flights Again (Spanish)

The Alfredo Rodríguez Ballón International Airport (AQP) in Arequipa has progressively restarted its night operations, reported the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC).

The MTC indicated, through its Twitter account, that there will be three Lima-Arequipa-Lima flights (six operations in total). Night flights resumed yesterday.

The first aircraft from Lima landed at the Arequipa airport at 7:45 p.m., according to the schedule.

The air terminal resumed its daytime operations on December 19 with the arrival of the first commercial plane from Lima after being closed for a week due to serious damage caused to its infrastructure by violent protesters.

In these first days, only daytime flights were carried out due to the damage to the lights and sensors on the runway caused by vandals who forcibly entered the airport on Monday, December 12, forcing the suspension of operations and the cancellation of flights. scheduled.

The attack occurred amid protests by people who demanded early elections.
