Arequipa - Bus ticket sales resume, but prices rise between 40% and 50%
AFTER THE LIBERATION OF THE PANAMERICANA SUR HIGHWAY AT THE HEIGHT OF CHALA, CARAVELÍ PROVINCE, THE TRIPS TO LIMA AND ICA FROM AREQUIPA AND VICEVERSA RESUMED. HOWEVER, TICKET PRICES INCREASED BETWEEN 40% AND 50%, DEPENDING ON THE INTERPROVINCIAL COMPANY AND THE DESTINATION.
This Tuesday, the interprovincial service companies restarted the sale of tickets to destinations that were suspended for more than a week due to the blockades. This situation caused dozens of passengers to arrive at the terminal to purchase their tickets.
However, passengers were surprised that the tickets cost between S/30 and S/60 more than usual. This is the case of departures to Lima, which went from costing between S/80 and S/90, the normal service, to S/120 and S/150; while the 'buscama' service, usually S/160 and S/180, went to S/200. For example, in the Flores and Tauro Bus companies a ticket cost between S/150 and S/200, while in Julsa they offer it for S/130 and in Oltursa from S/125.
Other destinations that also suffered a price increase are the trips from Arequipa to Tacna, which went from costing S/35 to S/50.
While from Arequipa to Puno and Juliaca, a ticket increased to S/ 25 or S/35, when before it was S/20. The same thing happens with the exits to Moquegua. There is an increase of between S/5 and S/10, now costing S/40.
RESTRICTIONS
The sale of tickets to Cusco is still restricted in the terrestrial terminal due to the persistence of road blockades in this region.
At the moment, the companies are offering tickets to that sector for a cost between S/60 and S/80, but with the condition that, if the road is still blocked, passengers must stay in Sicuani.
