Mob Attacks Police Officers in Lima and Provinces (Spanish) Agents use tear gas canisters to repel violent activists. Demonstrations resumed yesterday in Lima and other regions of the country against the government of President Dina Boluarte who took office after the vacancy of Pedro Castillo. During the mobilizations that have been carried out in downtown Lima, a series of attacks by protesters on members of the Peruvian National Police (PNP) have been reported. At the intersection of Abancay and Nicolas de Piérola avenues, in an attempt by the demonstrators to advance violently towards the Congress of the Republic, the police agents withdrew them with tear gas canisters. Members of the General Confederation of Workers of Peru (CGTP) and a group of reservists have also joined the march in Lima.
