Pucusana: PNP attempts to controls the arrival of protesters (Spanish)

Police use lack of insurance, SOAT or updated technical reviews to block public transport vehicles in attempt to thwart tomorrow's March of the 'Cuatro Suyos'.

An intense operation is being carried out by the Peruvian National Police (PNP) at the Pucusana tollbooth on the Panamericana Sur highway, due to the arrival of protesters from the regions to participate in protests demanding the resignation of President Dina Boluarte and the advancement of elections. This measure will apply until Wednesday, January 18.

For Canal N, Colonel Víctor Meza, PNP Head of Highways, said that people have the right to protest peacefully and freely on the road network.

On the other hand, he reported that they are arresting people driving public transport vehicles without insurance, SOAT or updated technical reviews. In addition, police are focusing on adulterated license plates.

Meza assured that, during the State of Emergency, the PNP has the legal tools to stop vehicles that threaten the security of the road network or citizens.

It should be noted that the State of Emergency exists in Cusco, Puno, Lima, and Callao. This declares the suspension of the exercise of constitutional rights in three departments, four provinces, one provincial district, and five highways and corridors under the responsibility of the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC).
