Cusqueños leave for Lima to be part of the new March of the 'Cuatro Suyos' (Spanish)

Thousands of residents from the provinces of Cusco, Canchis, Chumbivilcas and others left in a caravan of vehicles to carry out a peaceful march. With tears in their eyes, the students were dismissed.

Citizens of the provinces of Cusco, Chumbivilcas, Quispicanchi, Acomayo and Canchis embark on a trip to the city of Lima, in a caravan of vehicles to join the protests that will take place in the city of Lima, as part of the second edition of the so-called March of the Cuatro Suyos that will be held in the city of Lima demanding the resignation of President Dina Boluarte.

[Editor: The original "March of the Cuatro Sutos" was a large demonstration held in Lima, Peru on July 26 - 28, 2000 on the Paseo of Los Héroes Navales by Peruvians from throughout the Country against the former dictator Alberto Fujimori. The name "March of the Four Suyos" recalled the name of the four cardinal points and symbolized the four regions into which Tahuantinsuyo, the Inca Empire, was divided.]

Since yesterday morning from the Plaza de Armas in Canchis, thousands of Canchis citizens left for Lima. Roger Galindo, representative of the Canchis struggle committee, indicated that between 10,000 and 15,000 people left for Lima.

In the city of Cusco, the situation is similar, thousands of residents leave in a caravan of vehicles for Lima to be part of the march of the four of them. The farewell to the travelers was made emotionally by those who will remain in Cusco, who will continue with the protests in Cusco.

'As outraged cusqueños we are leaving for Lima. What motivates us the most is how they have silenced us by branding us as a tiny and tiny group. Now they will get to know the southern regions and Cusco in particular. My parents told me not to travel, but the country needs us, we must leave, we must protest, but we are not going to protest, we are not vandals, we are not financed by drug trafficking, we are financed by the people who support this just measure ' said Josué Marocho, president of the Cusco Regional Youth Assembly.

Leaders of the Cusco University Federation and the Cusco Regional Youth Assembly left for Lima as part of the caravan of vehicles that will soon be in Lima.
