Transportation service is restored on the Puno-Cusco highway after a truce of strikers

The transport service to neighboring provinces and regions of Puno has been restored. After the truce given by the strikers who blocked the Puno-Cusco highway, the departure of buses to the Imperial City returns to normal, as well as to other towns in the south of the country, according to La República after touring the bus terminal.

Starting in the early hours of this Thursday, December 22, several buses arrived in Puno from Cusco, according to Eliana Delgado, a bus terminal worker.

For a few days now, buses have been leaving more frequently for the cities of Arequipa, Moquegua, and Tacna; however, until yesterday, there were no departures to Cusco.

Inter-American Commission on Human Rights heard testimonies from detainees in protests in Cusco

Since the start of the social crisis in the country, twenty-eight people have died while hundreds of civilians and police officers were injured. In addition, there is an unknown number of protesters who were detained and are now listed as accused of causing disturbances. Faced with this situation, the executive secretary of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR), Tania Reneaum Panszi, and three other members of the international organization arrived in the city of Cusco.

The purpose was to listen to the different social actors and institutions about their participation in the massive citizen protests that began nine days ago, as well as the people who would have been arbitrarily detained and subsequently denounced for various crimes.
