Cusco - Authorities call for truce with social organizations that abide by the regional strike
In the face of attempts by citizens to reactivate the economy, authorities have asked for a truce of social peace on Christmas and New Year's Eve. This has been asked so merchants have an opportunity to earn income and carry out their activities without major inconveniences.
The regional, provincial and district authorities of Cusco requested a truce from social organizations, to allow citizens to carry out their work activities normally and thus be able to recover economically.
"We know that the last days of the year are particularly important for the economic development of many families in the country, and particularly in our region and city, who have been affected by the pandemic. Although the claims of the population expressed through demonstrations enjoy legal protection, we appeal to your understanding to invoke a truce of social peace for these Christmas and New Year holidays allowing merchants and other economic activities in our city that at this time of year. They have an opportunity to earn income, they can carry out their activities without major inconveniences, also considering that during these dates many people visit our city, generating economic movement in the service sector such as restaurants, lodgings, transportation etc.", says part of the document addressed to five social organizations.
In this regard, the social organizations agreed in a meeting to convene the leaders of the entire Region-13 Provinces to an extended meeting that will take place today from 10:00 a.m. with a single agenda: "Position of the region and measures of social organizations regarding the national situation."
After the meeting, the organizations of the thirteen provinces assured that they will inform of any agreements.
