Amazonian indigenous leaders demand Boluarte's resignation and warn the Army: "Don't provoke us"

At a press conference, Amazonian leaders attacked Congress and also called for new general elections.

The Amazonian leaders of the Interethnic Association for the Development of the Peruvian Jungle (AIDESEP) held a press conference where they demanded the resignation of President Dina Boluarte and a Constituent Assembly for the change of the Constitution.

Along these lines, they announced that they had declared their territories in a state of emergency and warned the National Police and the Peruvian Army not to intervene with the use of force, as they did in the regions where violent clashes broke out and that has left at least 27 dead.

"We alert the Army, we alert the National Police of Peru, not to provoke us, because we are in our territory, we will see each other, there we will surely declare war, because they are already provoking us and creating discomfort," said Jorge Cline Chauca López, president of the Regional Association of Indigenous Peoples of the Central Jungle (ARPI-SC).

"The terrorists are Congress"
On the other hand, they attacked the Congress of the Republic and the head of state for being, for them, responsible for the deaths left by the nationwide protests.

"The big terrorists are Congress, they are the press, they are what Dina Boluarte heads, the Army and the PNP are also terrorists. [...] Why doesn't it do justice? Because we are not white? Because we are Indians? That's not fair, that's why we ask that she (Dina Boluarte) resign because her hands are stained with blood and we hope that justice reaches her too," said the Amazonian leader.

Meanwhile, Jorge Pérez Rubio, president of Aidesep, reiterated that both branches of government "have blood on their hands" and urged that they convene as soon as possible a "Constituent Assembly so that indigenous peoples can participate with their main demands."
